The two-day Pit and Fissure Sealants course is officially approved by the California Dental Board. It meets the certification requirements necessary for Registered Dental Assistants (RDAs) looking to renew their licenses or to perform pit and fissure sealant applications in a dental practice. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate in Pit and Fissure Sealants.

**Prerequisites:**

- Participants must bring their own protective eyewear; gloves and masks will be provided.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be a current RDA (please send a copy of your RDA license) or a DA eligible to take the RDA exam. DAs must include copies of the following with their registration:
- Current CPR card (AHA or ARC)
- California 8-hour Infection Control Certificate
- California Dental Practice Act
- Radiation Safety Certificate
- Coronal Polish Certificate
- Students must complete online training and pass quizzes before the second day of the course.
- Dress code: Students must wear scrubs, have hair pulled back above the collar, and avoid open-toed shoes.

**Course Structure:**

- **Day One:** This day is dedicated to online training and home study. Students will learn about the theory and practical aspects of pit and fissure sealant procedures, which includes topics such as tooth morphology, dental anatomy, materials and applications, and infection control. Completion of online training and quizzes is mandatory before proceeding to Day Two.

- **Day Two:** This session follows after completing the online training. It starts with a written exam, followed by hands-on instruction where students will learn the specific steps for placing pit and fissure sealants on a typodont/manikin. Students will practice tooth preparation, moisture control, proper sealant application, and bite articulation. Once clinical proficiency is demonstrated, students will apply pit and fissure
